In 2012, after co-authoring a book about branding, at Otterbein College Sherry launched one of the first courses in the country offered on the topic of social media.

He has a track record of excellence while serving as publisher of magazine divisions in Columbus (Dispatch Magazines) and Southwest Florida (Gulfshore Life). His teams have received multiple national awards, including a 2022 nomination in the prestigious National Magazine Awards. One of his titles, Columbus Monthly, was nominated six years in a row for best city magazine in the country for its circulation size (winning the gold in 2018) from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
Earlier in his career, his writing and reporting earned more than 45 individual journalism awards.
His community commitments include serving on various boards, including the national City and Regional Magazine Association (as president), the Columbus Metropolitan Club and the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. He is a founding board member of ASPIRE, the academic booster group for Granville (Ohio) Exempted Village Schools.
